Olive oil-based products are very affordable and convenient for skin care. Olive oil is known to be very effective when it comes to solving skin problems. But, just as any other edible substance-made skincare product, olive oil also has its pros and cons.

Pros:

• It can be very beneficial, especially if you have dry skin.
• Vitamin E helps to reduce wrinkles by maintaining skin elasticity.
• Collagen production can increase after using olive oil.
• Scars heal faster than usual.
• Vitamin K helps you get rid of dark circles under the eyes.
• Phenols, a compound found in olive oil, helps to reduce inflammation of skin.
• Squalene can be found in olive oil in small amounts, but it balances sebum production in skin.
• Vitamin A, an antioxidant, helps your skin to regenerate and improve its elasticity.

Cons:

• It’s not recommended for people with very oily skin.
• It can cause pimples and blackheads if it’s used to often.
• During winter, it can be used on a daily basis, but using it on a daily basis during the summer is acceptable only if you apply it to your hands, not the face.
